Wheel Differential Bearing Adjustment Tool Kit Instructions
Shown below is a complete set of instructions on how to properly utilize Dana’s Wheel Differential Bearing
Adjustment tool. This installation tool kit is necessary to properly set up the ring gear pattern, set the
differential bearing preload and complete the installation of the wheel differential assembly. This tool kit will
allow you to align the threaded bearing cups during the assembly of the carrier. Additionally it will gage the
adjustment for the differential bearing preload and assist in setting the primary gearing backlash. Refer to
Dana Service Manual AXSM-0057 for any additional carrier set-up information.
Models: All D170/S170 and D190/S190 Drive Axles
Wheel Differential Bearing Adjustment Kit Part Number – 513061
Kit Content: 2 - 130971 Wheel Diff. Bearing Adjuster Plate
1 - 130997 ½” –13 Threaded Rod
2 - 130998 ½” –13 Nuts
2 - HN115 Flat Washers
1 - SHAIS150 Instruction Sheet
Instructions:
1. The bearing adjustment tool is made up of a threaded rod, two nuts, two washers and two adjustment plates.
Fit one adjustment plate to the plain half threaded cup. Fit the other adjustment plate to the flange half cup.
The adjustment rings will fit into slots of the threaded bearing cups stamped adjustment ring.
